About the Port Perry Artists' Association
  • The Port Perry Artists' Association is a non-profit organization, founded by a group of five artists.  It was formally named and established in October 1999.
  • Members work in a variety of media, including acrylic, watercolour, oil, pastel, pencil, ink, encaustic and mixed media, offered in realistic, representational and abstract forms.
  • Each week artists meet to learn and share information, techniques and ideas, give constructive critiques, and offer encouragement and camaraderie.  Workshops are offered to members on a regular basis by professional artists.
  • Many of the artists donate art to charities, contribute their talents by painting sets for theatrical productions at the Town Hall 1883 in Port Perry and participate in local fundraisers.
  • PPAA offers bursaries to recognize the accomplishments of young aspiring artists, who are graduating from Port Perry High School.  It also supports Operation Scugog.
  • Members are involved in organized individual and group shows and exhibitions in local Port Perry venues, where members are given an opportunity to display and sell their works.  To date, the PPAA has presented three exhibitions at the Kent Farndale Gallery, "Around the Shores of Lake Scugog" (2006), "Autumn Interpretations" (2009) and "Painting for the Love of It" (2013).
  • PPAA holds two annual fine art shows with opportunities for the public to purchase original art. "Spring Art Festival" is held on the second weekend in June and "Fall Art Festival"  is held on the second weekend of November at the Boy Scout Hall in Port Perry.
  • PPAA is a member of the Scugog Council for the Arts, and the Pine Ridge Arts Council.
